Current Activities For “Mitten Tree”

And Knitting Neighbors

We are so happy to see donation continually show up on the yarn table. There were mittens, hats, scarves and several pairs of children’s slippers. I know that most donations will come in to adorn our Mitten Tree in December. Thank you to all who have kept their knitting needles and crochet hooks busy over the summer!

Thanks also for several bags of yarn donated for our yarn crafters. What a blessing that yarn keeps coming in... and going out... and coming back again as useful articles of clothing.

The two Prayer Shawls that were donated last month are blessing two persons that desired that comfort. We have immediate needs for at least four more. You may use any pattern. It’s so nice to be able to give each person a warm hug with a shawl in a difficult time in their life!

We are also handing out prayer scarves. They should be made with fun fur or soft sport weight yarn. Please make them 4” wide and 60 “ long. These scarves are to be worn more for a hug around the neck than to be a winter scarf.

These items are always being collected. Of the 70 preemie blankets that have already been that you have made 60 of them have been donated to our local hospitals. A reminder about Preemie Blankets.  Please use patterns that aren’t lacy the tiny fingers of the babies catch in the holes and it makes it harder to wrap the infant. We could use some more 15” blankets as most come in at 13” or 14”. Thanks to all who have donated so many of these tiny blankets!

Speaking of Blankets…. We are collecting gently used or new blankets of all sizes with our Mitten Tree Items.

The Lemmen Holton Cancer Center was the recipient of the chemo caps already given. They have a continuing need for more Chemo Caps. THESE CAN BE SOWN ON A MACHINE (Bucket Hat Pattern) OR MADE OF YARN. Patterns are available on the yarn table or you can use your own.

We are hoping to see you on a 2nd or 4th Thursday of each month from 10 AM to Noon.

Blessings to all who participate from the Faith In Action Committee!!!
