Knitting Neighbors
Do you enjoy knitting or crocheting along with good Christian fellowship? Knitting Neighbors meets every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Jamestown home of Jerri Selders. If you are joining us for the first time, it’s best to call and make sure the date hasn’t been changed. It is open to anyone from our church, your neighborhood, or your circle of friends. We work on service projects as well as personal items. Whether you are a skilled knitter or just someone who would like to learn… you are welcome. There are many ladies in our church who participate in making service projects but never attend our gatherings. We appreciate that you are involved in your own way and thank you for your donations!
COMFORT TEDDIES. This spring Knitting Neighbors are also working on makeing Teddy bears for children found in trauma situations. They will be distributed by our local Ottawa County Firemen & Police men to frightened children. Teddy bear patterns can be found on the left side of this page (New Patterns for Service Projects), on the yarn table or you may use your own. Please join us in this project even if you don't knit or crochet. Purchase a small size teddy and leave it on the yarn table. We are hoping to collect at least 100 bears of all shapes and sizes.
Our yarn table is on display in the narthex near the nursery. It is a central place to take yarn, or donate yarn and place your completed projects. Donated service items are brought to the appropriate local ministries, such as Love, INC., Lakeshore Pregnancy Center in Holland, United in Christ Ministries, Jehova Jireh Ministry, homeless shelters, as well as our local hospitals' neo-natal and cancer units.
Much yarn has been donated through out the year and we are very appreciative of those donations! PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE THIS YARN!
Call or talk to Jerri Selders with any questions or comments you may have. You may find her contact information in our church directory.
